October 13, 2025 – Second Virtual Meeting (Zoom)

Attendance: 25 participants (4 PTO officers + Principal Diane Herndon-Wilson)

 

Principal’s Update
Quarter 1 grades are being finalized as teachers complete evaluations and tests.
Families were encouraged to check ParentVUE for updates and reach out to teachers with any questions or concerns.

 

PTO Member Updates

Members reviewed ongoing projects, volunteer needs, and upcoming votes.

  • Fall Festival: Abracadabra Autumn (Oct 24 | 6–8 PM | GFES Gym)

    • Entertainment: Vince Charming’s live magic show (7–7:30 PM)

    • Vendors: Pako’s Taco Truck & Kona Ice of Fairfax confirmed as community partners; one halal-friendly truck TBA

    • Volunteers: Free family admission (up to 5) + entry in volunteers-only raffle

    • Tickets: Pre-sale through the PTO website (Instagram link in bio)

    • Volunteer Sign-Ups: Via SignupGenius

    • Flyers: Updated bilingual (English | Español | العربية) QR codes active

  • Teacher & Staff Lounge Appreciation – Fall Morning Warm-Up (Oct 16 | 8 AM)

    • Apple cider, tea, donuts & treats (sponsored by Pet Sitting 4 Comfort®)

  • After-School Clubs

    • Started Oct 9 and run through Nov 20 with strong student and teacher participation

  • Finance Summary (Sep 9 – Oct 13)

    • Stripe, Square & PayPal deposits reviewed; budget on track. Detailed report available to members on request.

 

For Non-Members

Non-members were invited to share ideas, ask questions, and learn more about joining.

  • PTO membership ($20 parents / $10 staff) includes voting rights and discounts on after-school clubs.

  • Volunteer sign-ups and festival tickets are open to all families.

    • Membership & volunteering: $20 parents/guardians, $10 staff (includes $10 club discount & voting rights)

    • Closing: Appreciation from PTO and principal
